Barcelona confirms the move of Dro, but Laporta is not happy with the decision, as he was expected to continue working with Hansi Flick.

Barcelona has confirmed the departure of highly rated midfielder Dro Fernández to Paris Saint-Germain, with the President Laporta expressing disappointment over how the transfer unfolded.

The 18-year-old, who joined Barcelona’s academy at 14, was expected to remain at the club after turning 18 earlier this month. Talks over a new contract had progressed, but Fernández later informed head coach Hansi Flick of his decision to leave.

PSG are understood to have paid more than €8 million, despite the player having a lower release clause. Barcelona president Joan Laporta described the situation as unpleasant, stating that the club had anticipated finalising a new agreement.

Flick, who gave Fernández his first-team debut this season, previously pointed to the influence of advisors in decisions involving young players. The midfielder made five senior appearances before departing.

Fernández will now continue his development in Paris, where Luis Enrique’s tactical system could offer him opportunities at the first-team level.
