
In this interview, Nahimana Hilaire discusses his development as a winger and midfielder, his approach to training, and the mindset guiding his progression…
Can you tell us a bit about your football journey so far and how you got started in the game?
My name is Nahimana Hilaire. I started playing football when I was very young in the city. I fell in love with football without any reason, and the mandem told my mom that I had a big talent and joined local clubs to improve my skills. Over time, my passion just kept growing, and I’ve been working hard to develop my skills.
Which position do you feel allows you to express yourself best, and why?
I feel I can play as a left winger or right winger, but people prefer to see me play midfielder because it allows me to control the game, create chances, influence, and create opportunities to attack lines.
What does a typical training week look like for you?
A typical week includes daily training sessions focusing on technical and tactical, physical conditioning, and recovery, and for myself, I also review games to see how I can improve the next game
How do you balance football with education or personal development?
I manage my time, and I stay focused on both because in our lives we need to be educated, and it is very important, so I make sure to stay focused on school while giving football the dedication it needs.
What have you learned from your coaches so far?
I’ve learned discipline, teamwork, and the importance of always giving my best. Coaches have also taught me to stay positive, even when things don’t go my way, they try to be with me, and I’m always glad.
How do you deal with challenges as a young player?
Challenges are part of our life and part of growing, so when it happens anything bad I stay patient and try to talk to my agent or my sister.
What goals have you set for yourself this season?
I want to keep improving my game, help my team win, and contribute more with assists and goals in every match. I know it’s not easy, but that’s my goal and is a chance to get better.
How do you prepare before the match?
Before playing, I try to stay happy and relaxed, be focused, and sometimes watch some skill videos on TikTok to get inspired and motivated, and I’m ready to give my best.
Where do you hope to see yourself as a player in the future?
I dream of playing at the highest level and representing my country, and continuing to grow as a player while enjoying football.
What role do fitness and recovery play in your weekly routine?
Fitness for me is key i make sure to train well individually, eat healthy, and recover to stay at my best throughout the season.
You are following any example, and do you have an idol?
I look up to players like (Nahimana Shassir, Ntibazonkiza Sadio Mane, and Neymar)who combine talent, hard work, and creativity. They inspire me to keep improving every day in my career.
What activities help you relax and reset away from football?
Away from football, I like prayer and spending time with friends, and listening music.
What motivates you to keep improving every day?
My love for football and my dream to be the best motivate me to keep pushing and improving every day to get the opportunity.
Who is your biggest supporter?
My biggest supporters are my sister, my agent, who also acts like a guide, and some close friends, almost like a football account that pushes young players like the next star .official, Tonsser, Eyeball, Jogo …. They all encourage me, keep me motivated, and help me to show my talents.
