• In this short exclusive interview, Nico Bellondi, winger and forward for Bologna FC Youth Team, opens up about his football journey, mindset, and daily discipline. From inheriting his love for the game through his father to focusing on improvement both on and off the pitch, Nico shares what drives him every day.
  • Calm, focused, and team-oriented, he believes in trusting the process and growing step by step — letting hard work and consistency shape the future.

Did anyone inspire you to play football, or did it start naturally?

My dad passed on his passion for football to me. Thanks to him, football has always been part of my life.

What do you enjoy most about your position on the wing and as a forward?

I enjoy having freedom on the pitch, creating chances for my teammates, and being dangerous in the final third. I like attacking spaces and helping the team offensively.

Which professional players do you watch or model your game on?

I don’t take inspiration from just one professional player. I try to learn something from everyone and improve my game step by step.

Italy is known for its hard-working mentality. What’s the hardest drill or training session for you?

For me, the hardest part isn’t on the pitch but off it — trying to eat in the best and most professional way possible every day.

Do you have a personal or football goal for this season?

My main goal is to improve every day, help my team as much as I can, and grow both physically and mentally.

Where do you see yourself in five years — Serie A? National team?

Honestly, I don’t like to look too far ahead. I focus on training better every day, and then we’ll see where football takes me.

What hobbies or interests do you have outside of football?

Every Sunday, I like to watch Formula 1 — it helps me relax and disconnect.

Do you have a routine before training and games?

Yes. In the morning of a game, I pack my bag, then I do some cycling and stretching to prepare my body.

Who are the people who support you the most in your journey?

My parents. They are always close to me and make many sacrifices for me.

Goal or assist — which do you prefer?

I prefer to send a teammate through on goal rather than score myself. The team always comes first.

How would you describe yourself as a person?

I’m a calm person both on and off the pitch. I try to live sport and everyday life with the same serenity.
